Senator Allwell Onyesoh Bags ‘Responsive Representation for Good Governance’ Award

The Senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District, Chief Allwell Onyesoh of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has been honored with the ‘Responsive Representation for Good Governance’ Award by the Senate Press Corps, the foremost media body of the National Assembly.

The prestigious award was presented to Senator Onyesoh on Monday, December 14, 2024, at a ceremony held at the NICON Luxury Hotel, Garki, Abuja.

The lawmaker stood out among his 108 colleagues for his outstanding leadership, unwavering commitment to the welfare of his constituents, and dedication to promoting good governance in Nigeria.
This was made known in a release signed by Mr. Peter Oriri, Special Adviser to the Senator (Publicity & Communication) on Friday in Abuja.
The event was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who was represented by Senator Yemi Adaramodu, as well as other distinguished Senators and key stakeholders in the legislative and media communities.

In his acceptance speech, Senator Onyesoh expressed gratitude to the Senate Press Corps for recognizing his efforts. He said:

“I am deeply honored and wholeheartedly accept this remarkable recognition from the Senate Press Corps, the very body that observes and reports our legislative activities. This award is a testament to the fact that the little we are doing is being noticed. It also serves as an encouragement to continue striving for the betterment of my people and Nigeria at large.”

The former Chairman of the Senate Press Corps, Mr. James Itodo, commended Senator Onyesoh for his exceptional performance, describing the award as a well-deserved acknowledgment of his responsive and effective representation. He highlighted the Senator’s role as Chairman of the Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Affairs Committee, noting his significant contributions in fostering inclusivity and equitable governance.

Since his assumption of office, Senator Onyesoh has initiated several impactful programs aimed at job creation, human capital development, and infrastructure improvement in Rivers East, ensuring better living conditions for his constituents.

The lawmaker’s efforts have earned him widespread recognition as a “Treasure Base Senator” for his remarkable contributions to his district and beyond.
