By David Odama
The Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, has been lauded as a symbol of good governance, a distinguished parliamentarian, and a steadfast advocate for Nigeria’s unity and development.
Senator Nwoko’s recognition follows his remarkable contributions to quality lawmaking, which have earned him the African Democracy Heroes Leadership Award.
The lawmaker will be honoured as the Best Performing Senator of the Year at the Democracy Heroes Award Africa 2025, alongside other distinguished African leaders celebrated for their roles in advancing reforms, strengthening democratic institutions, promoting public welfare, and inspiring a new generation of political leadership across the continent.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by Michael Ogar, Media Consultant to Senator Nwoko, the high-profile event—scheduled to take place at the Congress Hall, Transcorp Hilton, Abuja—will celebrate outstanding African leaders under the theme: “Legacy of Leadership: Powering Africa’s Future.”
The theme, the statement noted, reflects the increasing need for visionary governance across the continent amid complex socio-economic challenges.
The statement further highlighted that Senator Nwoko, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was selected for the honour due to his “exemplary representation and measurable impact in legislative governance” since his election to the Senate.
It added that Senator Nwoko has become a leading voice in national affairs—championing education reform, youth empowerment, agricultural innovation, and equitable federal representation.
Beyond his legislative duties, the Senator has been a vocal advocate for the creation of Anioma State, which he believes will address Nigeria’s geopolitical imbalance and strengthen national unity.
“His dedication to inclusive governance and people-oriented development continues to distinguish him as one of the most dynamic lawmakers in the 10th Senate,” the statement affirmed.
For Senator Nwoko, this latest recognition joins a growing list of local and international honours, further establishing his reputation as a leader defined by integrity, innovation, and purposeful service in Nigeria’s democratic journey.
The statement emphasized that the award underscores Senator Nwoko’s enduring belief that leadership must serve humanity above politics.
The event will feature a red-carpet reception at 6:00 p.m. and the main ceremony at 7:00 p.m., expected to attract top government officials, diplomats, business leaders, and civil society advocates from across Africa.
