Senator Yar’Adua Receives Global Leadership Award at House of Lords

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, on Friday, July 17, received an Honorary Doctorate in Leadership, Governance and National Development at the EuroKnowledge Honorary Doctorate Conferral Ceremony held at the House of Lords in London.

Speaking after receiving the award, the Senator representing Katsina Central Senatorial District expressed gratitude to the EuroKnowledge Institute, describing the recognition as one he accepted with humility. He dedicated the honour to the people of Katsina Central for their mandate, prayers and unwavering support, as well as to his family for their sacrifices and encouragement throughout his public service.
Senator Yar’Adua commended the efforts of the Federal and State Governments over the past year to improve security across the country. He also praised the gallantry and resilience of the Armed Forces for their commitment to protecting lives and property.
Addressing the country’s security challenges, the lawmaker acknowledged that the crisis in the Sahel region had contributed to the influx of weapons across Nigeria’s borders, worsening insecurity. He, however, maintained that the government was confronting the challenge decisively.
According to him, leadership is about providing solutions rather than making excuses. He expressed confidence that the government was making progress in the fight against insecurity and pledged continued reliance on technology, intelligence gathering and regional cooperation to strengthen security, safeguard citizens and make Nigeria safer for all.
The EuroKnowledge Honorary Doctorate is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated sustained excellence and made significant contributions to national and international development. Previous recipients include President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the late former OPEC Secretary-General, Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo.
Senator Yar’Adua said the honour would inspire him to work even harder for the people of Katsina Central and the nation. The ceremony attracted dignitaries from across Africa, Europe and members of the diplomatic community.
