Sierra Leone Envoy Urges Journalists to Uphold Objectivity in Media Diplomacy

The Sierra Leone High Commissioner to Nigeria, Julius Sandy, has called on journalists to maintain objectivity in their reports, describing the media as a mirror of society and a powerful force in shaping public opinion.
Dr. Sandy made the call while receiving a delegation of diplomatic journalists during a courtesy visit to the Sierra Leone High Commission in Nigeria in Abuja.
The visit was aimed at strengthening ties with the mission and fostering collaboration through media diplomacy.During the meeting, the High Commissioner briefed the visiting journalists on the current state of bilateral relations between Sierra Leone and Nigeria. He highlighted ongoing cooperation in key sectors including trade, investment, and security, noting that stronger collaboration between the two nations would contribute to mutual growth and regional stability.
He also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to deepening diplomatic and economic relations with Nigeria, stressing the importance of sustained engagement between both countries.
Speaking on behalf of the visiting delegation, Editor-in-Chief of Diplomats Extra Magazine, Raphael Oni, expressed appreciation for the warm reception. He assured the High Commissioner that the team remained dedicated to promoting balanced and responsible journalism while telling the stories of both nations accurately.
The visit forms part of ongoing engagements by Diplomats Extra Magazine with diplomatic missions in Abuja, aimed at strengthening media–diplomatic relations and advancing the practice of media diplomacy.
