Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has nominated six persons, including the Director General of the Benue State Signage and Advertising Agency, Solomon Iorpev, for appointment as commissioners in the State Executive Council.

Governor Alia has consequently requested the Benue State House of Assembly to screen and confirm the nominees.

This was contained in a letter signed by Zape Michael Upaa, Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, and made available to newsmen in Makurdi.
The letter, dated August 18, 2026, was addressed to the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Alfred Aondoaver Emberga, and contained the names of the six nominees.
According to the letter, the nominations are aimed at strengthening the State Executive Council by bringing in additional expertise and capacity to enhance the effectiveness of the administration.
The nominees are Hon. Kuma Aii Yenge, Hon. Roy Ashirga Terna, Hon. Angwa Egbe Monday, Hon. Elizabeth Onma Ogenyi, Hon. Solomon Iorpev and Hon. Nick Eworo.
Governor Alia said the nominations were made in exercise of his constitutional powers under Section 192 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended.
He therefore requested the Assembly to give the nominees prompt and favourable consideration in line with its constitutional responsibility.
The letter stated that the development is part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to consolidate the State Executive Council and strengthen the machinery of government for improved service delivery across the state.
