Six Worshippers Abducted from Church, Police Arrest Suspected Informant
The Police Command in Ondo State has confirmed the abduction of six worshippers from a Celestial Church located along the Uso/Owo Expressway in Owo Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, explaining that the incident occurred in the early hours of Feb.
Jimoh stated that the attackers whisked the victims away to an unknown destination.
“Upon receiving the report, operatives of the command, working in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and local vigilante groups, swiftly mobilised to the scene and launched coordinated rescue operations.
“As a result of sustained joint efforts, one of the kidnapped victims has been successfully rescued.
“In addition, one suspected informant connected to the incident has been apprehended and is currently assisting with ongoing investigations.
“Security operations remain ongoing to ensure the safe rescue of the remaining victims and the arrest of all perpetrators involved,” he said.
The spokesperson urged residents to stay calm, remain vigilant, and support security agencies with credible and useful information to aid the ongoing operations.
