Some People Are Better Treated As Painted Tomb

Not everyone is meant to be brought into the deepest chambers of our lives. Some people are better appreciated from a distance.

From afar, everything looks beautiful.

The smiles are bright, the words are pleasant, the presence is refreshing, and the atmosphere around them feels like roses and celebration.

The exterior is attractive, carefully painted and well presented.
But distance can hide what closeness reveals.

The moment boundaries are reduced, secrets are exchanged, vulnerabilities are exposed, and intimacy begins, the hidden realities may surface.

The beauty that once attracted you may reveal a different story underneath.

The painted exterior may cover wounds, bitterness, disrespect, humiliation, manipulation, or attitudes that were invisible from afar.

Distance has a way of preserving admiration. Closeness has a way of uncovering reality.

This is why some relationships are better maintained with healthy boundaries. Not every person you admire from a distance is someone you should invite into your inner circle.

Tombs are beautifully painted, but what is inside is not what the eyes would imagine.

Wisdom is knowing the difference between appreciating someone from a distance and knowing whether to allow them have close access to you.

A painted tomb may be nice with aesthetics externally, a dig beyond the surface would leave one with awful stench.

Some people are like that, to enjoy them, relate with them from a distance. There are three sets of people, the painted tomb, the painted palace and the mud house.

The first two share external beauty while the last has nothing attractive.

Avoid the mud completely, get close to the painted tomb from a distance but to the palace, embrace them both in and out.

I ask, what are you to people? A mud house? A painted tomb? Or a painted palace?
