TADI Dismisses Sahara Reporters’ Allegations, Defends Presidency Against “Coordinated Smear Campaign”
By Admin
The Transparency Advocacy for Development Initiative (TADI) has strongly dismissed a recent publication by Sahara Reporters alleging a $1.
5 million bribery scandal involving key security aides to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In a press statement delivered on Sunday, August 17, 2025, by its Executive Director, Ambassador Yomi David, TADI described the report as “baseless, unfounded, and reckless” and accused Sahara Reporters of attempting to destabilize the Presidency through misinformation.
According to TADI, the individuals named in the report are respected and professional public servants dedicated to upholding national security, transparency, and service. The group insisted that no credible evidence has been presented to support the bribery claims because “no such evidence exists.”
“This report is not just an attack on these individuals, it is a thinly veiled attempt to weaken the President by targeting those closest to him,” the statement read. “The strategy is clear: discredit his aides, sow discord within his inner circle, and ultimately, create a narrative of instability around the leadership of President Tinubu. This is not journalism, it is sabotage.”
TADI further alleged that the publication was part of a wider, calculated effort by certain vested interests to undermine President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and derail his administration’s progress in driving reforms for growth, security, and prosperity.
Ambassador David emphasized that the Presidency must be shielded from smear campaigns designed to erode public trust and distract from governance. He challenged Sahara Reporters to either produce verifiable evidence to substantiate their claims or immediately retract the report and issue an unreserved apology to both the affected individuals and Nigerians at large.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains fully committed to delivering on his Renewed Hope Agenda, and no amount of blackmail, misinformation, or media harassment will derail his vision for a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria,” the statement added.
The advocacy group also called on Nigerians to disregard what it termed a “sensationalized and irresponsible” report, assuring that those behind attempts to disrupt governance through falsehood and manipulation would not succeed.
TADI vowed to pursue every legal and civil measure to protect the integrity of the President, his aides, and the sanctity of public service.
“God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the statement concluded.
