TCN, NISO Mark Workers’ Day with Friendly Football Match, Promote Unity and Wellness
The National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) on Workers’ Day organised a novelty football match between the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) as part of efforts to promote unity, teamwork, healthy living, and staff welfare across both organisations.
The match, played in a lively and friendly atmosphere, featured strong displays of teamwork, skill, and sportsmanship from both sides. At the final whistle, TCN secured a 5–3 victory over NISO.

The event highlighted growing efforts within the electricity sector to strengthen workplace relationships beyond formal office structures, while reinforcing a shared commitment to employee engagement, collaboration, and wellness.
It also served as a platform for informal interaction among staff and management of both organisations, further deepening inter-agency cooperation within the power sector.
Among those in attendance were senior officials of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, including Executive Director, Transmission Service Provider, Engr. Oluwagbenga Ajiboye; Executive Director, Finance & Accounts, Mr. Chuks Ochijie; and General Manager, Engineering, Engr. Mojeed Akintola.
From the Nigerian Independent System Operator, attendees included Executive Director, Finance & Corporate Services, Mr. Ibironke Babajide; General Manager, Human Resources, Mrs. Tijanni Halima; and General Manager, Legal Services, Barr. Bashiru Mohammed, alongside other staff members from both organisations.
The novelty match concluded with renewed calls for sustained collaboration and a stronger focus on staff welfare across Nigeria’s electricity value chain.
