Three Bandit Financiers Arrested During Coordinated Police Operations
The Sokoto State Police Command has apprehended three suspected financiers of banditry, alongside other individuals allegedly involved in motorcycle theft and criminal conspiracy, following separate operations that led to the recovery of rustled cattle and stolen motorcycles.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Ahmad Rufai, confirmed the arrests on Friday, noting that the successful operations reflect the command’s renewed effectiveness and enhanced operational strategy.
According to Rufai, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department arrested one Ruwa Ginyo of Gidan-Madi and two others on Wednesday in Tangaza Local Government Area after receiving credible intelligence.
“Investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly received rustled cattle from armed bandits, sold them in markets, and remitted the proceeds to the criminals,” Rufai stated.
He added that four rustled cows were recovered from the suspects as they attempted to sell them.
In a separate operation in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Rufai said police tracked and apprehended several suspects linked to criminal conspiracy, motorcycle theft, and receiving stolen property.
“During the cross-border operation, two suspected stolen motorcycles were recovered, with preliminary investigations tying the items to an ongoing case in Sokoto,” he explained.
Rufai confirmed that all suspects remain in custody while investigators work to identify additional members of the syndicates.
The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Musa, commended the operatives for their professionalism and commitment, urging members of the public to continue supporting the police with actionable information.
“All details shared with the command will be treated with the utmost confidentiality,” he assured.
