Tor Tiv to FG: Fix Benue’s critical road network now.

The Paramount Ruler of the Tiv Nation, James Ayatse, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to facilitate the construction of key federal roads in Benue State that have already received Federal Government approval and are awaiting contract awards for execution.

The Tor Tiv made the appeal on Tuesday at Ihugh in Vandeikya Local Government Area during the commissioning of the NITDA/Renewed Hope Initiative Community IT Centre, named the Lucy Zaiyol Aluor IT Center, by Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu.
While commending President Tinubu for the ongoing construction of the River Buruku Bridge, Ayatse urged the Federal Government to also prioritize the rehabilitation and construction of major roads across the state. He listed the roads as Makurdi-Gboko-Katsina Ala-Zaki Biam, Gboko-Ihugh-Tse Mker, Gboko-Aliade, Makurdi-Naka-Ayangba, and Adikpo-Ajio-Koti-Iyon (Ajio-Ada-Ikyogen).
He further praised the cordial working relationship between President Tinubu and Hyacinth Alia, noting that the partnership has yielded several benefits, including renewed efforts to tackle insecurity and the restoration of relative peace in the state.
Ayatse, who also serves as Chairman of the Benue State Council of Traditional Rulers, commended the First Lady for personally visiting the state to commission the project, describing the gesture as a demonstration of her motherly affection for the people of Benue.
He recalled that the First Lady had earlier visited the state to sympathize with residents following the Yelewata killings, describing the visit as another indication of her concern for the people.
The Tor Tiv expressed appreciation to the First Lady and the nitda.gov.ng⁠� for establishing the Community IT Centre, noting that it would enhance digital literacy, empower youths and women, and contribute to socio-economic development in the state.
According to him, the centre will also help reduce youth idleness and its associated social challenges.
Ayatse equally thanked Governor Alia for supporting the establishment of the facility, stating that it would greatly benefit the newly established University of Agriculture, Science and Technology Ihugh.
He further called for the establishment of similar IT centres in other parts of Benue State to expand their impact and benefits across the state.
