Tragedy in Adamawa: Dozens Feared Dead After Attack on Football Crowd
No fewer than 29 persons have been confirmed dead following a deadly attack on a community in Adamawa State.
The incident occurred in Guyaku community, located in Gombi Local Government Area, where residents had gathered at a football pitch before the attackers struck.
Eyewitnesses said the assailants stormed the area and opened fire on spectators, many of whom were youths and football enthusiasts, causing panic and heavy casualties.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who visited the affected community, confirmed the death toll and described the attack as tragic and unacceptable.
Residents revealed that the attackers operated for several hours, shooting indiscriminately and destroying property, including homes, places of worship, and motorcycles. Victims reportedly included young people and women who had gathered to watch the match. �

The governor assured that security agencies have been mobilised to the area to restore calm and prevent further attacks, while also pledging that those responsible would be brought to justice.
