In a bid to strengthen its relationship with the media, Transcorp Hilton Abuja has paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, reaffirming its commitment to collaboration and media engagement.

The delegation, led by the hotel’s Commercial Director, Mrs. Betty Aguiyi-Ironsi, and Ms. Ijeoma Osuji, E-Commerce Manager, was warmly received by NUJ-FCT Chairperson Comrade Grace Ike and members of the union’s executive council at the NUJ secretariat in Utako, Abuja.

Mrs. Aguiyi-Ironsi, the first woman to occupy the role of Commercial Director at Transcorp Hilton Abuja, described the visit as part of efforts to foster deeper partnerships with the media, which she described as vital allies in national development.

“We are here to appreciate the media and pledge to continue our strategic relationship with the NUJ-FCT. The visibility and credibility the media gives to our brand cannot be overstated. You are truly our partners in progress,” she said.

Echoing the sentiment, Ms. Osuji praised the NUJ-FCT for its consistent support, stating that much of the hotel’s recognition in the hospitality sector is thanks to its media relationships.

Chairperson Grace Ike lauded the hotel’s consistent engagement with the union and applauded the leadership of women in the delegation.

“I am excited to see women leading from the front. Transcorp Hilton Abuja has proven to be a dependable partner, especially during our 2025 Press Week Public Lecture. We look forward to more fruitful collaborations,” she said.

She also appealed to the hotel to consider reviving its annual cocktail party for journalists—a long-standing tradition that brought reporters and senior editors together to unwind after a busy year.

The visit underscores the mutual appreciation between one of Nigeria’s foremost hospitality brands and the press community in the FCT.

Transcorp Hilton Abuja, which has earned multiple awards for excellence in hospitality and media engagement, was most recently honoured with the NUJ-FCT Hospitality Award.

The NUJ-FCT leadership in attendance included Vice Chairman Comrade Yahaya Ndambabo, Secretary Comrade Jide Oyekunle, Assistant Secretary Sharon Emephia, Treasurer Comrade Sandra Udeike, Financial Secretary Comrade Henry Daniel Abimiku, and Internal Auditor Comrade Rosemary Ukoko-Tega.
