The Nigeria Police Force has reportedly arrested Aloy Ejimakor, counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Ejimakor made this known in a post on his X handle on Monday, revealing that he and several others were apprehended during a protest in Abuja.

He wrote: “We’ve just been arrested. Myself, Prince Emanuel and others. We are at FCT COMMAND CID. Myself, Fine Boy and others. No 1 Zaria Street, Garki 2, Abuja.”

Earlier, Ejimakor had accused the police of firing teargas canisters to disperse peaceful protesters who had gathered in the Federal Capital Territory.

Reports indicate that the demonstrators had converged on Monday to demand the release of Nnamdi Kanu, who has been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) since June 2021.

The protest forms part of renewed calls by Kanu’s supporters urging the Federal Government to comply with court rulings that ordered his release.
