Yakubu Presents Credentials to Qatar’s Amir, Moves to Deepen Nigeria-Qatar Ties

Professor Mahmood Yakubu has formally presented his Letter of Credence to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, officially assuming his role as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the State of Qatar.
The credential presentation ceremony took place on Thursday at the Amiri Diwan with full diplomatic honours, including the inspection of a Guard of Honour.
During a private audience following the ceremony, the Amir welcomed Ambassador Yakubu and reaffirmed the longstanding cordial relationship between Nigeria and Qatar.
He recalled previous high-level engagements between both countries and reiterated Qatar’s commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation across key sectors.

Ambassador Yakubu expressed Nigeria’s condolences to the Amir over the recent accident at Ras Laffan Industrial City and conveyed the country’s solidarity with the government and people of Qatar.
He also reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening ties with Qatar, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, education, security and humanitarian cooperation.
The presentation of the Letter of Credence formally marks the commencement of Ambassador Yakubu’s diplomatic mission in Qatar as both countries seek to deepen their strategic partnership and broaden cooperation on issues of mutual interest.
