2026 UTME Registration Ends February 26 — No Extension
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that pin vending for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will officially close on Saturday, February 26, 2026.
The Board stated that the sale of e-PINs, which allows candidates to proceed to accredited centres for registration, will end at 12 midnight on Thursday, February 26, 2026. However, candidates who have already obtained their e-PINs will be able to complete their registration at accredited centres until Saturday, February 28, 2026.
As of Tuesday, February 17, 2026, JAMB confirmed that more than 1.5 million candidates have been successfully registered. Despite having the capacity to register up to 100,000 candidates daily, centres nationwide are currently operating at just about 30 percent of that capacity. This suggests that many prospective candidates are yet to utilize the available opportunity.
The Board emphasized that there will be no extension of the registration deadline. According to JAMB, its activities are aligned with a nationally coordinated examination calendar agreed upon by all examination bodies in Nigeria. The registration timeline is carefully structured to allow other examination bodies to conduct their respective exercises afterward, leaving no room for extension.
Candidates are strongly encouraged to purchase their e-PINs before the vending deadline and immediately proceed to accredited centres to complete their registration. The Board warned that last-minute rush could lead to avoidable difficulties and stressed that no appeals for deadline extension will be considered.
JAMB reiterated that this proactive notice is intended to ensure that no candidate who genuinely intends to sit for the 2026 UTME misses the opportunity due to delay or complacency. All prospective candidates are advised to act promptly.
