Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has charged the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other political stakeholders in the state to intensify efforts in mobilizing eligible citizens for the ongoing voter registration exercise.

Expressing concern over Nasarawa’s low voter registration figures, the governor warned that the trend poses a serious challenge, stressing that the party must reverse the situation if it is to remain relevant in the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the flag-off of the campaign and mobilization drive for the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), Governor Sule, represented by his deputy, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, noted that recent statistics ranked the state among those with the lowest voter participation.

He urged APC leaders to take the sensitization campaign to every community, ward, and polling unit, ensuring that eligible citizens register to vote. The occasion also marked the celebration of the two-year anniversary of the state APC Chairman, Aliyu Bello, and Secretary, Yairus Dagusa.

Governor Sule commended the party leaders for their service, congratulating them on their achievements and wishing them continued success. He further praised both past and present party leadership for working to secure APC victories over the years, while calling for unity and harmony to sustain progress.

“If you look at the charts that were published, Nasarawa State is still ranked among the lowest in INEC’s CVR process. This is our chance to go back to our constituencies, wards, and polling units to encourage our people to register so they can vote in 2027,” he emphasized.

Also speaking, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, lauded the APC for the sensitization initiative, urging residents to take advantage of the CVR to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). He also congratulated the party chairman and secretary on their two-year milestone, noting that their leadership had helped stabilize the party.

“Our population has grown, yet our registered voters remain very low. I urge residents to register and collect their PVCs. As a legislature, we will continue to pass laws and make resolutions that directly impact the people across the 13 local governments of the state,” Jatau said.

Earlier in his remarks, APC State Chairman Aliyu Bello welcomed stakeholders and dignitaries, affirming that the party leadership had unanimously resolved to support any governorship aspirant endorsed by Governor Sule in 2027, regardless of senatorial zone.

“As loyal party members, we are ready to support whoever His Excellency chooses as our flag bearer. We have agreed as a party to entrust that decision to him,” Bello declared.
