2027: INEC Chair Warns Staff Against Compromise

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Amupitan, has urged members of staff to remain selfless and uphold the highest standards of integrity, stressing that the commission cannot afford to disappoint Nigerians in the 2027 general election.

Professor Amupitan made the call during a working visit to the INEC headquarters in Minna, Niger State. He cautioned staff against any form of compromise, noting that the international community, including the African Union and foreign election observation missions, would be closely monitoring Nigeria’s electoral process.
He assured staff that the commission is working diligently to strengthen logistics, infrastructure and transport fleets across state offices in preparation for the elections. According to him, the vision of building a revitalised INEC that enjoys the confidence of Nigerians depends largely on the dedication and integrity of personnel at the grassroots.
The INEC Chairman also disclosed that outstanding performance would be recognised and rewarded, while acts of administrative misconduct would attract strict sanctions. On staff welfare, he revealed that the commission has begun a comprehensive review of workers’ welfare packages nationwide to boost morale and enhance productivity.
