The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced that Nigeria’s 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections will hold on Saturday, February 20, 2027, while Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections are scheduled for Saturday, March 6, 2027.

INEC Chairman, Joash Ojo Amupitan, disclosed this on Friday during a well-attended press conference at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja, where he also unveiled the full timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general elections.

According to him, the release of the timetable complies with constitutional requirements and the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 governing election planning and administration.

The commission said the early announcement is aimed at providing adequate preparation time for political parties, stakeholders, and election administrators, as well as ensuring transparency and predictability in the electoral process.

INEC reaffirmed its commitment to conducting credible, transparent, and well-organised polls, assuring Nigerians that all necessary measures would be put in place to ensure the successful conduct of the elections nationwide.
