FCT SCIENCE EXAMINATIONS CONDUCTED SMOOTHLY UNDER STRICT SUPERVISION – ERC DIRECTOR

The 2025 Entrance examination into FCT Science and Technical Schools have been conducted smoothly, with orderliness and integrity across all five designated centres in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

This assurance was given by the Director, FCT Education Resource Centre (ERC), Dr. Neemat Daud Abdulrahim, while supervising the exercise. She disclosed that as at the closure of registration on Friday night 15th August 2025, three thousand five hundred and sixteen (3,516) candidates registered for the highly competitive entrance examination into FCT Science and Technical Schools, noting that admission will be strictly merit-based.

According to her, candidates must possess the requisite five credits including English Language, Mathematics, and core science subjects in BECE result stressing that “only the best of the best will be selected.”

Dr. Abdulrahim explained that all centres commenced on time, with candidates well-prepared for the examination. She emphasized that the Education Resource Centre has ensured effective coordination and strict monitoring to safeguard the integrity of the process.

According to her, concrete measures were deployed to prevent examination malpractice which included engaging experienced supervisors and invigilators, securing the distribution of question papers, and close monitoring across all centres.

She further revealed that subject specialists were engaged to ensure fairness and relevance, aligning the examination questions with the academic curriculum.

On inclusiveness, the Director noted that provisions were made for candidates with special needs cases to ensure no child was disadvantaged or excluded from the critical assessment.

While commending the conduct of students, Dr. Abdulrahim described them as serious, disciplined and determined. She advised candidates to minimize unnecessary movement, especially during breaks, for their own safety, which she said remains a top priority of the FCT examination body.

She also urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant, comply with examination rules, and support the smooth running of the process.

Speaking on peculiarities of Science and Technical examinations, she explained that additional logistics are often required compared to other subjects. However, she assured that the ERC had anticipated this and made adequate provisions for a seamless exercise.
The Director expressed appreciation for the support the ERC continuously enjoyed from the FCT Department of Security Services in deploying Security personnel from the Police force, NCDCS, and DRTS to secure, control crowd and vehicular movements. She said that the Barr. Nyesom Wike led FCT Administration has created conducive environment for teaching, learning, and examinations. she further recommended continuous investment in invigilators training to strengthen monitoring mechanisms and improve efficiency and transparency in future examinations.

Dr Neemat Daud Abdulrahim reiterated the Education Resource Centre’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of fairness, integrity and credibility in the education system.

Some of the candidates interviewed expressed optimism about their performance, noting that they were adequately prepared and impressed with the smooth, transparent process
from the registration point to the examination proper .

The FCT Science and Technical examinations were conducted in Five centres namely Government Science Secondary School Maitama, Government Science and Technical College,Area 3, LEA and Junior Secondary School,Tuduwada, Zone 4 and Government Secondary School Area 10 Garki respectively.
