Tragedy as Popular Entertainer Dies After Slumping During Dance Performance

Ugwunagbo, Abia State – A popular 65-year-old entertainer, Mrs. Nwandinma Dickson, fondly called “Nwayi Garri,” has died after collapsing in the middle of a performance in Abia State.

The heartbreaking incident occurred on Monday, August 25, 2025, during an August meeting held in Ugwunagbo Local Government Area of the state.

According to The Punch, “Nwayi Garri” had been billed to perform at the high-profile gathering, where the First Lady, Priscilla Chidinma Otti, was also expected to attend.

Eyewitnesses recounted that the entertainer suddenly slumped while performing, but many in the audience initially thought it was part of her dramatic act and kept cheering and applauding.

“At a point, she stood still and people kept clapping, thinking it was part of her moves. She then fell, and people still applauded, but when she didn’t get up, some rushed to her and discovered she was foaming at the mouth,” one eyewitness narrated.

The Mayor of Ugwunagbo LGA immediately facilitated her transfer to the hospital, but doctors confirmed she was dead on arrival.

Family sources revealed that the late entertainer had initially been reluctant to attend the meeting but later changed her mind and decided to honour her scheduled performance.
