The Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) has publicly dissociated itself from a reported protest being planned by a group of individuals identified as “Concerned Staff” within the National Assembly.

In a statement signed by the PASAN Chairman, Comrade Sunday Sabiyyi, the union firmly denied any involvement in the planned demonstration, which has been circulating on a WhatsApp platform known as “NASS FORUM.

PASAN explained that the issues raised by the unnamed group, particularly those concerning staff welfare, have largely been addressed through ongoing dialogue between the union and the National Assembly management. It added that a committee has already been set up to handle any unresolved matters or “grey areas.”

“We strongly advise all PASAN members to remain at their duty posts and continue with their legitimate duties within the National Assembly complex,” Sabiyyi stated. “The union does not support or encourage any protest or picketing that could disrupt the smooth functioning of the legislature.”

The union further underscored the need for discipline, professionalism, and order among staff, warning that unauthorized actions could damage the image of the National Assembly.

Additionally, PASAN called on the management of the National Assembly to identify the source of the planned protest and take appropriate steps to maintain calm and normalcy within the premises. It also urged management to communicate clearly with all staff, reminding them of the importance of following official procedures and maintaining decorum.
