FRSC Reaffirms Commitment to Safe and Effective Traffic Management During Ember Months

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reiterated its commitment to ensuring safe and secure highways during this year’s Ember Months through several well-designed programmes targeted at promoting effective traffic control and safety compliance.

The Corps Marshal, Mallam Shehu Mohammed, disclosed this during the FRSC Valedictory Lecture Series held in honour of the Deputy Corps Marshal in charge of Training, Mr.

Chidiebere Nkwonta, who is retiring from active service after attaining the age of 60.

Mallam Mohammed stated that the Corps will continue to sustain ongoing reforms aimed at aligning with global best practices in road safety management, leveraging technology to enhance its operations.

He emphasized that the FRSC would leave no stone unturned in curbing the excesses of motorists and ensuring effective traffic management before, during, and after the Ember Months Special Operations.

The Corps Marshal commended the retiring Deputy Corps Marshal, Chidiebere Nkwonta, for his immense contributions to the growth and development of the FRSC and urged serving officers to emulate his dedication and professionalism.

He further assured that the Corps would build upon the legacies left behind by the retiring senior officer.

Delivering his valedictory lecture titled “How to Navigate the Vagaries of the Nigerian Public Service: My Experience, A Good Teacher,” Mr. Nkwonta urged younger officers to handle every assignment with diligence and loyalty.

According to him, commitment and integrity remain key virtues for success in public service.

He also lauded some of the retired senior officers for their mentorship, which he said greatly influenced his 35 years of meritorious service in the Corps.

Mr. Nkwonta pledged to continue offering his support to the FRSC whenever called upon.

Former Minister of Information, Frank Nweke Jr., alongside friends, colleagues (both serving and retired), commended the wife and children of the retired officer for their steadfast support, which contributed to his remarkable career achievements.
