FRSC, NAICOM Strengthen Partnership to Boost Insurance Compliance
By our Correspondent
To enhance road safety management and ensure wider insurance compliance across Nigeria, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) have inaugurated a Joint Task Force on Compulsory Third-Party Motor Insurance and the Digitalisation of Passenger Manifests.
The partnership signals a new phase of inter-agency collaboration focused on deepening transparency, accountability, and efficiency within the nation’s road transport and insurance sectors.
The initiative aims to improve safety, ensure traceability, and integrate the FRSC and NAICOM databases for seamless information sharing and effective enforcement.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Executive Commissioner for Insurance, Mr. Olusegun Omosehin, stated that the collaboration would yield significant benefits for Nigerians through effective enforcement, prompt compensation for crash victims, and comprehensive public education on insurance responsibilities and consumer protection.
In his remarks, the Corps Marshal, Mallam Shehu Mohammed, reaffirmed the FRSC’s commitment to supporting the project through technology-driven enforcement, data integration, and field operations.

He described the partnership as a model of institutional synergy that would not only reduce road crashes but also strengthen the government’s ability to provide immediate financial and medical assistance to accident victims.
Mallam Mohammed further noted that the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which emphasizes digital transformation, inter-agency collaboration, and inclusive national development.
According to him, the FRSC/NAICOM Joint Task Force is set to significantly cut down the number of uninsured vehicles on Nigerian roads, improve the welfare of motorists, and promote a safer, more transparent, and accountable transport system nationwide.
