How Bandits Abducted Pastor, Wife, Others During Church Service in Kogi
Bandits have once again launched an attack in Kogi State, kidnapping a Christian cleric, his wife, and several worshippers. The incident occurred on Sunday morning in Ejiba, a town in Yagba West Local Government Area.
According to local accounts, the assault happened during a service at a newly established Cherubim and Seraphim Church.
An eyewitness, Adegboyega Oguns, who was present at the time of the raid, said the congregation fled in panic as the gunmen invaded the church.Reported had it that the pastor, popularly known as Orlando, his wife, and other worshippers were taken away, though he did not specify the number of abductees. “It’s a new Cherubim and Seraphim Church. The pastor, popularly called Orlando, and his wife, with some others have been kidnapped,” he wrote on the Egbe Mekun Parrot Facebook platform. “It is serious; we all ran out of the church.”
The attack highlights the worsening security situation confronting communities within Kogi State.
In a related development, terrorists also attacked the Isanlu Makutu–Idofin corridor in Yagba East Local Government Area on Saturday. Residents and travellers were thrown into panic after the armed men stormed the area unexpectedly in the afternoon.
Reports from the community indicate that the number of persons abducted remains unclear, as information is still emerging. The incident has heightened tension across surrounding communities, with many residents staying indoors and travellers diverting their routes to avoid the volatile stretch of road.
