FHA Refutes Claims of Illegal Demolition at Gwarimpa Estate
By Our Reporter
The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has dismissed allegations surrounding the alleged demolition of a property belonging to Hajiya Sadiya at Gwarimpa Estate, FCT, Abuja, describing her claims as exaggerated and misleading.
In a press statement issued by the management of the Federal Housing Authority and signed by its Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Chigelu, the Authority stated that Hajiya Sadiya unlawfully encroached on FHA land along 5th Avenue, 52 Road, Gwarimpa, Abuja, to the extent of about 6,000 square metres.
According to the statement, the disputed land was originally allocated to Savannah Suites Ltd with a total area of 16,000 square metres, which was later assigned to Tulwu Integrated Properties Ltd. The FHA clarified that Hajiya Sadiya, through Tulwu Integrated Properties Ltd, illegally extended beyond the approved allocation by an additional 6,000 square metres, falsely claiming the land measured 22,000 square metres.
The Authority released the following statement titled:
DEMOLITION IN GWARIMPA ESTATE: THE TRUE POSITION
“The attention of management has been drawn to publications in Leadership newspaper of Monday, 15th December 2025; an online publication, Elanza News, of the same day; and Daily Trust newspaper of Tuesday, 16th December 2025, alleging that the Federal Housing Authority wrongfully demolished a property in Abuja and attacked the female owner.
“While the Authority does not intend to join issues with Tulwu Integrated Properties Ltd and one Hajiya Sadiya, since the matter is already before a court of law, the melodramatic narrative presented to the public has made it necessary to set the records straight.
“The true position is that Hajiya Sadiya, through acts of land grabbing, illegally encroached on Federal Housing Authority land situated along 5th Avenue, 52 Road, Gwarimpa Estate, Abuja, to the tune of about 6,000 square metres.
“The Federal Housing Authority had initially allocated a parcel of land measuring approximately 16,000 square metres to Savannah Suites Ltd, which subsequently assigned the same to Tulwu Integrated Properties Ltd.
“However, Hajiya Sadiya, acting through Tulwu Integrated Properties Ltd, unlawfully annexed an additional 6,000 square metres, thereby claiming the total land area to be 22,000 square metres.
“Typical of land grabbers and their tactics, this manipulation could not stand, as empirical evidence from the Authority’s drone imagery clearly established that the additional land she claimed was nonexistent.
“Several efforts to resolve the matter amicably failed, even after Savannah Suites, which assigned the land to her, confirmed that the allocation was strictly 16,000 square metres and not 22,000 square metres.
“Instead, she resorted to threats, boasting of her connections and, during one meeting, openly vowed to bring down the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Authority.
“She subsequently approached the High Court in Bwari, Abuja, where she obtained an ex parte order on July 1, 2025, restraining the Authority from accessing the land.
“Upon securing the order, she commenced illegal development on the land without the approval of the Federal Housing Authority.
“As a law-abiding agency, the FHA challenged the order, which was vacated by the same High Court in Bwari on November 5, 2025.
“Further attempts to dissuade Hajiya Sadiya from continuing the illegal development met stiff resistance.
“On Friday, December 12, 2025, a team of the Authority’s Development Control officers visited the site to enforce compliance and were violently attacked by Hajiya Sadiya and her husband, Danjuma Mahmoud.
“Armed with a sharp object, Hajiya Sadiya assaulted a female officer, Mrs. Funmi Aliu, who was performing her lawful duties, and with the assistance of her husband attempted to strangle her.
“She also attacked police officers on duty with the FHA, slapping one and biting others. The intervention of security personnel was required to rescue the assaulted officer and halt the attack.
“At the Gwarimpa Police Station, where the incident was reported, Hajiya Sadiya’s husband, Danjuma Mahmoud, apologised to the Divisional Police Officer for his actions.
“The Federal Housing Authority hereby informs the general public of the true facts surrounding the Gwarimpa incident.
“Under the leadership of Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, the Authority has declared zero tolerance for land grabbing and illegal annexation of FHA lands nationwide.
“While Hon. Ojo remains committed to recovering all stolen FHA lands, he will not be intimidated by individuals such as Hajiya Sadiya or by attempts to conduct trial by media through falsehoods and blackmail.
“The FHA has acquired a MAX 350 drone to ensure that every square millimetre of illegally acquired land is recovered. All land grabbers are hereby put on notice.”
