FRSC Launches “Drive Alive 2025” to Curb Ember-Month Road Fatalities

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Tuesday announced the launch of “Drive Alive 2025,” a comprehensive public awareness campaign designed to significantly reduce road traffic fatalities during Nigeria’s high-risk Ember Months—October to December—when travel volume and crash risks typically rise.
The 2025 edition of the initiative is strengthened through a strategic partnership with tsboi.ai, which brings an AI-powered engagement platform to enhance public participation, interactive learning, and real-time community insights.
Historically, the Ember Months witness increased travel activity and a corresponding spike in road crashes, often linked to driver fatigue, overloading, excessive speeding, distracted driving, and other unsafe practices. Available records indicate that between January and September 2025, Nigeria recorded thousands of road traffic crashes, resulting in 3,433 fatalities and over 22,000 injuries. Other data sources put the figures at 7,715 crashes and nearly 3,915 deaths nationwide within the same period, highlighting the urgent need for intensified road safety measures.
Drive Alive 2025, powered by the tsboi.ai platform, integrates digital engagement and community-focused learning tools to complement FRSC’s conventional enforcement and public education strategies. Under the initiative, citizens can digitally pledge to adopt safe driving habits and earn recognition through “Safety Guardian” digital badges, while state-level leaderboards promote community pride and healthy competition in reducing traffic incidents.
The campaign also features a moderated user-generated content hub where Nigerians can share real-life road safety experiences and practical tips, creating a localized knowledge base for travelers. All submissions are reviewed through an administrative interface to ensure quality, relevance, and accuracy. In addition, easy-to-understand road safety “dos and don’ts” address key travel risks—such as fatigue, speed compliance, distracted driving, and night travel precautions—with content tailored to local conditions and major road corridors.
Interactive maps highlighting high-risk road segments are included to help users plan safer routes and remain cautious along known accident corridors. FRSC administrators are able to review community submissions promptly, flag hazards, and issue responsive risk messages, promoting transparency and timely updates. Participants receive notifications on content status, requests for clarification, and award milestones, while administrators get alerts on new submissions, trending concerns, and potential risk hotspots.
“Our objective with Drive Alive 2025 is clear and uncompromising: zero fatalities on Nigerian roads during the Ember Months,” a senior FRSC official said. “By leveraging tsboi.ai’s digital capabilities, we are broadening the reach and impact of our safety messages and transforming awareness into active nationwide participation.”
A representative of tsboi.ai added, “We are delighted to support the FRSC in this critical mission. Our AI-powered platform provides the scalable infrastructure needed to engage road users and enable data-driven decision-making across communities. This is technology deployed for public good—enhancing awareness, delivering real-time insights, and fostering a strong culture of responsible driving.”
The Drive Alive 2025 campaign urges all Nigerians to visit the campaign website to sign the safety pledge, access road safety resources, and share their experiences.
The FRSC is the Nigerian government agency responsible for regulating, enforcing, and coordinating road traffic safety and highway management nationwide. Established in 1988, the Corps is mandated to eliminate road traffic crashes and create a safe motoring environment through public education, enforcement of traffic laws, patrol operations, vehicle inspections, rescue services, and strategic stakeholder partnerships.
