The Forum of State Chairmen of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has issued a firm warning to imposters and political opportunists spreading falsehoods about the party’s leadership following a recent Supreme Court judgment.

In a statement released in Abuja, the Secretary of the Forum and Nasarawa State Chairman of the SDP, Hon.
Musa Danlami, said it had become necessary to confront, expose and dismiss the misleading narratives being circulated by individuals bent on sowing confusion within the party.
According to him, the Supreme Court judgment has no bearing whatsoever on the SDP’s national leadership structure, legitimacy or authority.
“The matter determined by the Supreme Court was strictly an electoral issue arising from previously concluded by-elections. It merely affirmed the earlier judgment of the Court of Appeal,” the statement said.
“At no time did the Supreme Court pronounce on, validate or even consider any issue relating to the leadership of the SDP. Consequently, any attempt by mischief-makers to twist this judgment into an endorsement of leadership is a deliberate lie and a coordinated attempt to deceive party members and the Nigerian public.”
The Forum also condemned what it described as the forceful and “theatrical” invasion of the National Chairman’s office by a self-appointed “kangaroo team,” alleging that the action was encouraged by external forces, including the misuse of security institutions.
“This reckless act represents nothing but a politically sponsored plot by the ruling party to destabilise the SDP from within,” the statement added.
The Forum stressed that legitimacy within the SDP derives solely from the party’s constitution, urging genuine members across the country to remain resolute, vigilant and focused.
“Do not be distracted by the noise of imposters or the desperate antics of those who seek to hijack what they did not build,” the statement advised.
It reaffirmed that the SDP remains a party founded on law, order, internal democracy and institutional integrity, pledging to defend the unity of the Social Democratic Party against all forms of sabotage.
