President Bola Tinubu has called on nations and families to reflect on and study their history as a pathway to building a better future. The President made the call at the funeral service of the late Chief Moses Adegbite, father of the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, Bishop Prof.

Stephen Adegbite. The service was held on January 30, 2026, in Fiditi, Oyo State.
The message was contained in a statement issued by Celestine Toruka, Deputy Director and Head of Media and Public Relations of the Commission, and made available to journalists in Abuja.
Speaking through the Honourable Minister of Power, Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, President Tinubu said nations and families must learn from past mistakes and make necessary improvements to secure a better future.

He described the late Chief Moses Adegbite as a man who lived a life worthy of emulation, stressing the need to study his life and draw lessons, even from his shortcomings. According to the President, Chief Adegbite’s exemplary life assures him peaceful rest in the bosom of the Lord. He also prayed for God to grant the family the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
The President further used the occasion to solicit prayers for the success of his administration, noting that while some of the people-oriented programmes being implemented may appear challenging at the moment, there would be “light at the end of the tunnel.”
President Tinubu’s representative was accompanied by the Honourable Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Utsev, as well as the Permanent Secretaries of the Ministries of Power and Water Resources and Sanitation.
Late Chief Moses Adegbite died on November 14, 2025, after a brief illness, at the age of 86. He was a renowned philanthropist, community leader, and humanitarian.
The funeral programme commenced on January 29, 2026, with a wake-keep at his residence in Fiditi. Dignitaries from within and outside Nigeria attended the ceremony. Following the funeral service, his remains were laid to rest at the Eternal Rest Private Cemetery.
