The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, has called for sustained collaboration among relevant authorities to tackle emerging socio-economic challenges affecting residents of the Federal Capital Territory and Nigerians at large.
The appeal was contained in a communiqué issued at the Council’s Congress held in Abuja, where members deliberated on issues relating to public welfare and national development.

During the Congress, members noted that the increasing cost of petrol continues to place significant pressure on household expenses and encouraged the Federal Government of Nigeria to explore measures that could help ease the burden on citizens.
The Congress also urged the Federal Capital Territory Administration to intensify efforts aimed at improving access to potable water across parts of the territory in order to enhance public health outcomes.
In addition, the Council appealed to the Federal Government to accelerate actions toward improving electricity supply and implementing the new minimum wage, noting that such steps would provide much-needed relief for workers and residents.
The communiqué further encouraged coordinated efforts by relevant agencies to address environmental and safety concerns, including waste management, deforestation, street welfare issues, and the activities of “one chance” robbery syndicates, in order to promote the overall well-being of the public.
