NNPC Foundation bags top CSR health award at Independent Newspapers’ Silver Jubilee ceremony
The NNPC Foundation Limited has been honoured as the winner of the CSR Champion Award (Health) 2025 by Independent Newspapers. The award was presented during the Silver Jubilee edition of the Independent Newspapers Awards, themed “Game Changers: Breaking Barriers and Shaping Tomorrow,” held at Eko Hotel and Suites on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
According to a press statement signed by Andy Odeh, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd., the recognition highlights the Foundation’s remarkable contributions to healthcare, alongside its broader social investment efforts in education, environmental sustainability, and access to energy.
The award follows several impactful health interventions carried out by the Foundation. These include free cataract screenings and surgeries that have restored sight to over 6,000 Nigerians, including children born blind.
Other initiatives include cancer and glaucoma treatments, medical outreaches targeting underserved communities, renovation and furnishing of three wards with 100 beds at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, sponsorship of heart surgeries, and distribution of dental care materials to children in special schools.
Managing Director of the Foundation, Emmanuella Arukwe, described the award as a strong validation of the organisation’s efforts and the confidence Nigerians have placed in it.
She noted that the recognition reflects the resilience of the communities served, the dedication of the Foundation’s team, and the strength of partnerships that have enabled impactful work across health, education, environmental sustainability, and energy access.
Arukwe also appreciated the leadership and support of the NNPC Ltd. management, stating that their backing has played a key role in enhancing the Foundation’s ability to deliver social investment programmes nationwide.
While receiving the award, the Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to expanding healthcare interventions aimed at improving outcomes and contributing to national development.
