Barau Applauds Tinubu Over N37bn Boost for Kano–Gwarzo–Dayi Road

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the allocation of N37 billion for the ongoing Kano–Gwarzo–Dayi Road project in the current budget.

Senator Barau, who represents Kano North Senatorial District, gave the commendation while reacting to a motion raised by Senator Kamorudeen Olalere (Accord Party, Osun) on the reconstruction of the Ibadan–Ikire–Ife–Ilesha road, which cuts across several South-West states.
He noted that the President’s road projects are spread across different parts of the country.
It would be recalled that the Federal Government, on June 11, 2021, flagged off the construction of the dual carriageway from Kano to Dayi town in Katsina State.
The Kano–Gwarzo–Dayi road, which is about 100 kilometres long and previously a single carriageway, is currently being expanded into a dual carriageway. The project is aimed at improving transportation within the axis and enhancing the movement of agricultural produce from rural communities to markets in neighbouring states.
The Deputy President of the Senate, who recently travelled along the Abuja–Kaduna road, also expressed satisfaction with the progress of work on that route.
“Senator Olalere is not a member of the APC; he belongs to the opposition, yet he has openly commended the President for his efforts in Osun, Oyo, and Ekiti states. Others should learn from this example.
“The President is performing well. In my region, the Kano to Dayi road has received N37 billion to ensure the continuation of work, despite the global financial challenges.
“We commend Mr President for this. Work is also progressing steadily on the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano road, with construction ongoing round the clock. The Lagos–Calabar road project is equally ongoing, alongside several other road projects nationwide.
“The President is doing very well, and we appreciate his commitment to road construction across the country. We express our full commendation and gratitude to him,” he said.
