Renewed Hope Hospital in Kaduna set to improve maternal, child health services

In a major move to enhance healthcare access and improve national health outcomes, the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (OSSAP-SDGs) has inaugurated a 100-bed Renewed Hope Specialist Hospital located in Dumbin Rauga, Dutsen Abba Ward, Zaria, Kaduna State.

The commissioning represents another key milestone in Nigeria’s sustained efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and accelerate progress toward Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing), alongside other related goals.
The modern facility is built to deliver accessible, high-quality, and dignified healthcare services to residents of Kaduna State and neighboring communities.
Speaking during the event, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, described the project as more than a healthcare facility, noting that it is a strategic intervention designed to bridge critical gaps in healthcare access, especially for vulnerable groups.
She emphasized that the initiative extends beyond infrastructure, aiming to improve overall health outcomes across communities.
“Healthcare is not a luxury; it is a necessity. Every mother deserves safe delivery, and every child deserves a healthy start in life. No matter how remote our communities are, access to quality healthcare must never be out of reach,” she stated.
According to a statement issued by her Special Assistant on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communications, Desmond Utomwen, the hospital is fully equipped with advanced medical infrastructure. These include operating theatres, wards, delivery units, and modern diagnostic equipment, significantly boosting healthcare capacity in the area.
“The facility features state-of-the-art equipment such as operating theatres, recovery rooms, private and general wards, a scanning unit, consultation rooms, and a laboratory. It is also equipped with an ultrasound machine, a vacuum extractor delivery set, and a fully stocked emergency cart,” the statement noted.
The project aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritizes people-focused development and equitable access to essential services.
Also speaking at the commissioning, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, who facilitated the project, said the hospital demonstrates the Federal Government’s commitment to translating policy into meaningful impact, particularly in underserved areas.
“This facility is a vital investment in the health and wellbeing of our people. It will reduce the strain on existing health institutions and ensure that citizens have access to affordable, quality medical care,” he said.
In his remarks, the Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, praised the Federal Government and OSSAP-SDGs for what he described as a timely and impactful intervention.
“This hospital will significantly strengthen the healthcare system in Kaduna State. It supports our efforts to expand access to quality healthcare and enhance the wellbeing of our people,” the governor said.
He also reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring the facility is effectively utilized and sustainably managed for the benefit of residents.
During the commissioning, stakeholders stressed the importance of healthcare as a fundamental human right, highlighting the need for safe maternal care, improved child health services, and equal access to medical care for all communities.
The hospital is expected to ease the burden on existing health facilities, improve service delivery, and contribute to better health outcomes in the region.
