A coalition of labour leaders, professionals, and artisans under the aegis of the Working People United (Working People United (WOPU)) has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following his victory in the All Progressives Congress (All Progressives Congress (APC)) presidential primary held last weekend.

The group said the outcome reflects strong public support for the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as a historic endorsement.
According to the results announced by former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, who chaired the Presidential Election Committee for the direct primary, President Tinubu polled over 10 million votes to secure the party’s ticket for the upcoming general election. His only rival, Stanley Osifo, scored 16,503 votes.
In his acceptance speech, President Tinubu assured Nigerians that he would consolidate the gains achieved by his administration over the past three years.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja and signed by WOPU National Coordinator, Comrade (Prince) Williams Eniredonana Akporeha, the group described the result as a clear validation of the President’s leadership and policy direction.
“The votes of 10.9 million Nigerians cannot be an error; they were earned through policies that prioritise the welfare, productivity, and future of the people,” the statement read.
It added that from members across 8,809 wards to all 774 local government areas, the message remained consistent: working people trust President Tinubu to continue the work he has started.
WOPU further noted that the President’s interventions, including the Student Loan Scheme, support for small businesses, and efforts to stabilise the economy despite global challenges, have strengthened his relationship with artisans, farmers, transporters, and professionals nationwide.
The coalition reaffirmed its commitment to mobilising its over 70 million grassroots members to support the President in the general election.
“We are not just celebrating today. We are preparing for tomorrow. The 4+4 Renewed Hope vision is a mission that must be completed, and working people will lead the charge,” the statement concluded.
