FRSC takes Over FCT Roads for Sallah Patrol

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC says it has deployed Three Thousand One Hundred and Thirteen regular and special Marshals for effective traffic control during the Sallah Celebrations in the Federal Capital Territory FCT.

FCT Sector Commander Corps Commander Tijani Iliyasu who stated this while addressing news men in Abuja said all the 19 unit Commanders across the Six Area Councils have been directed to deploy adequate personnel and logistics to all high volume traffic areas.

Corps Commander Tijani Iliyasu said the command has deployed 54 Patrol vehicles,15 Ambulances, 4 Tow trucks and 10 Patrol bikes to clear obstruction, emergency rescue and respond to any traffic matters across the Six Area Councils.

According to the sector Commander, special attention will be paid to Abuja – Airport – Giri, Gwagwala -Abaji -Lokoja, Abuja -Keffi -Akwanga- Jos and Abuja -Kaduna -Kano Routes.

He noted that a special team would be stationed along the routes leading to praying grounds and religious centers to avert traffic jam.

He said the corps has increased its visibility as the Sallah Special Patrol will run late into the night during the Six days operation.

Corps Commander Tijani Iliyasu maintained that enforcement during this period will focus more on excessive speeding, dangerous driving and overtaking, tyre violation, use of phone while driving, overloading, mix loading of vehicles with goods and passengers as well as mechanical deficiency .

He assured motorists and other road users of their safety on FCT roads during the Sallah celebration and beyond.

Corps Commander Tijani Iliyasu however appealed to motorists especially commercial drivers to give maximum cooperation to the personnel deployed for the exercise.
