Governments at all levels have been called upon to strengthen efforts toward implementing educational policies that will effectively increase school enrollment and address the growing challenge of out-of-school children across Nigeria.

The call was made by a Public Affairs Analyst, Mr. Seun Ibukun-Oni, while speaking on Perspectives, a Current Affairs Programme on Kapital FM in Abuja.

Discussing the topic, “Present State of School Enrollment in the Country: Increasing or Decreasing?”, Mr. Ibukun-Oni identified insecurity in several parts of the country as a major factor responsible for the decline in school enrollment. He warned that unless urgent steps were taken to address the situation, the education sector could continue to experience significant setbacks.
Mr. Ibukun-Oni also advocated the full implementation of the Child Rights Act in all states of the federation as a means of reducing the number of out-of-school children.
The public affairs analyst further called for the removal of cultural, religious, and gender-based barriers that limit access to education, noting that doing so would contribute significantly to national development.
He also emphasized the need for adequate educational incentives and support programmes to encourage school enrollment, particularly in rural communities.
According to him, improving access to quality education remains essential for achieving sustainable development in the country.
