The Federal Government has been called upon to review and ensure the effective implementation of the new national minimum wage as part of measures aimed at reducing poverty and addressing the economic difficulties facing Nigerians.

Speaking on Daybreak, a program on Kapital FM in Abuja, public affairs analyst Mr.
Paul Elumelu observed that the increasing cost of living continues to place significant pressure on workers and their families.
According to Mr. Elumelu, the prevailing economic challenges, particularly inflation without corresponding increases in income for workers in both the formal and informal sectors, have greatly weakened the purchasing power of Nigerians. He noted that many citizens are struggling to meet their basic needs.
Mr. Elumelu further advised the Federal Government to establish an effective minimum wage policy alongside accessible loan schemes and other social support initiatives. He said such measures would go a long way in reducing poverty and improving the overall well-being of Nigerians.
