Higher earnings boost April FAAC distribution to ₦2.257 trillion.

The three tiers of government have shared a total of ₦2.257 trillion as April 2026 Federation Account Revenue.
The allocation was approved during the May 2026 meeting of the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) held in Abuja.


According to a statement issued by the Director of Press and Public Relations in the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, Bawa Mokwa, the total distributable revenue of ₦2.
257 trillion comprised ₦1.260 trillion in distributable statutory revenue, ₦747.088 billion from Value Added Tax (VAT), and ₦250.000 billion as augmentation.
A communiqué released by FAAC stated that total gross revenue available for April 2026 stood at ₦3.184 trillion. From this amount, ₦113.756 billion was deducted as the cost of collection, while ₦813.839 billion was set aside for transfers, refunds, and savings.
The communiqué further revealed that gross statutory revenue for April 2026 was ₦2.378 trillion, representing an increase of ₦678.224 billion compared to the ₦1.699 trillion recorded in March 2026.
Similarly, gross VAT revenue for April 2026 was ₦806.617 billion, exceeding the ₦664.425 billion generated in March 2026 by ₦142.192 billion.
From the total distributable revenue of ₦2.257 trillion, the Federal Government received ₦787.351 billion, while state governments received ₦772.360 billion.
Local Government Councils got ₦540.152 billion, while oil-producing states received ₦157.254 billion as derivation revenue, representing 13 percent of mineral revenue.
Out of the ₦1.260 trillion distributable statutory revenue, the Federal Government received ₦580.942 billion, state governments received ₦294.661 billion, and Local Government Councils got ₦227.172 billion. The sum of ₦157.254 billion was also distributed to benefiting states as derivation revenue.
From the ₦747.088 billion distributable VAT revenue, the Federal Government received ₦74.709 billion, states received ₦410.898 billion, while Local Government Councils got ₦261.481 billion.
The ₦250.000 billion augmentation was shared with the Federal Government receiving ₦131.700 billion, state governments ₦66.800 billion, and Local Government Councils ₦51.500 billion.
FAAC also noted that revenues from Companies Income Tax (CIT), Capital Gains Tax (CGT), Stamp Duties (SDT), Import Duty, Oil and Gas Royalty, and Value Added Tax (VAT) recorded significant increases during the period.
However, Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT) and Hydrocarbon Tax (HT) declined considerably, while Excise Duty and CET Levies posted marginal decreases.
