To ensure a better society, the Minister in charge of First Baptist Church, Gwagwalada, Abuja, Reverend Deji Oyelami, has urged Christian fathers to remain committed to building godly homes worthy of emulation.

Reverend Deji Oyelami made the call in his sermon titled “Fathers as Kingdom Builders” during this year’s Father’s Day celebration of the church in Gwagwalada, Abuja.

He noted that fatherhood is a divine assignment and not merely a biological responsibility, stressing the need for fathers to make God the pillar of their homes.
“Fathers as Kingdom Builders is highly relevant because God has entrusted fathers with the responsibility of building lives, families and generations that reflect His Kingdom values. Just as a builder carefully lays a solid foundation, fathers are called to establish their homes on biblical truth,” the Baptist cleric stated.
Taking his Bible reading from 1 Corinthians 3:9-11, Reverend Oyelami also stressed the need for Christian fathers to build their homes on righteousness, love, discipline and godly character.
“My message to Christian fathers as they celebrate their day this year is for them to understand that fatherhood is a divine assignment and not a mere biological responsibility. God has positioned each father as a builder in His Kingdom, beginning with their families. Therefore, they should not disappoint God in this very important assignment on earth, and they should live their lives in accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ,” Reverend Deji Oyelami explained.
While wishing all fathers in the Baptist family a happy 2026 Father’s Day celebration, Reverend Oyelami urged them to always give priority to the educational development of their children.
In his 2026 Father’s Day message, the President of the Men Missionary Union (MMU) of the church, Engr. Aderemi Ajibade, said the essence of Father’s Day celebration in the Baptist family is to remind fathers of their divine roles and to appreciate and recognize their God-given responsibilities in the home, church and society at large.
Engr. Ajibade, who also wished all MMU members of the church a happy 2026 Father’s Day celebration, said the union would continue to organize programmes aimed at strengthening the faith of fathers toward building godly homes in line with the teachings of the Holy Bible.
Some fathers in the church, including Deacon Victor Asade, Mr. Gbemileke Moses, Engr. Adegboyega Adebayo, Dr. Tayo Olajide and Mr. Samson Olayiwola, expressed gratitude to God for granting them the grace to witness this year’s Father’s Day celebration.
This year’s Father’s Day celebration featured a talk show, thanksgiving, prayers and the presentation of gifts to fathers, among other activities.
