APM Gains Momentum as Onawo Defects
Senator Ogoshi Onawo, who represents Nasarawa South, on Wednesday formally visited the headquarters of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) in Abuja, a day after announcing his defection from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the APM during plenary.
The visit was described as a routine engagement aimed at familiarising himself with the party’s leadership and formally identifying with what he described as the country’s main opposition party.
Onawo pledged his loyalty to the APM and expressed confidence that the party would secure victory not only in Nasarawa South but across Nasarawa State in the 2027 general elections. He also urged Nigerians to support the party, stressing that the strength of democracy lies in the existence of a vibrant opposition.
Welcoming the senator into the party, APM National Chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Mamman Dantale, assured him of the party’s full support. He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to its “Nigeria First” slogan and pledged to reposition the APM in its quest to build a better Nigeria.
