Akpabio Urges Grassroots Drive for Unity, Tinubu’s 2027 Bid

Akpabio, has urged the National Executive and members of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT) Door-to-Door Movement to go beyond seeking support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election by promoting national unity among Nigerians.
Akpabio made the call during the inauguration of the National Executive of the campaign group and the commissioning of campaign vehicles to be deployed for nationwide mobilisation and vote canvassing ahead of President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
According to Akpabio, “A movement that goes from door to door must do more than seek support; it must carry truth, inspire confidence, listen to the people, and return to those same doors with the dividends of good governance. That is how democracies endure.”
A statement issued by the Special Assistant on Media/Communication to the President of the Senate, Anietie Ekong, quoted Akpabio as charging the newly inaugurated executives to make hope, national unity and constructive engagement their core mission.
He said, “Your greatest assignment is not merely to mobilise support but to inspire hope, promote national unity and encourage constructive engagement. Politics should never divide us beyond repair. Elections may produce winners and losers, but Nigeria must always emerge the ultimate winner.”
The Senate President stressed that Nigeria is greater than any political party, public office or election, noting that the nation was inherited from previous generations and must be preserved for those yet unborn.
He urged members of the movement to conduct themselves in a manner worthy of remembrance, describing them as ambassadors of democratic engagement. He encouraged them to approach every community with respect, listen before persuading, unite before mobilising, and ensure that every conversation strengthens confidence in democracy and Nigeria’s future.
Akpabio congratulated the leadership of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement on its inauguration and commended the organisers for establishing a platform that combines civic engagement with intellectual discourse.
Businessman Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, who founded and sponsors the movement, said the inauguration forms part of efforts to deepen grassroots mobilisation and encourage civic participation across the country.
Tompolo stated that the economic and structural reforms being implemented by the Tinubu administration are beginning to produce positive results, citing increased foreign investment, growth in the Nigerian capital market and improved fiscal autonomy for sub-national governments.
He described the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement as a nationwide grassroots platform dedicated to promoting national development and supporting the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda through community engagement and democratic participation.
The inauguration was attended by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, federal lawmakers, state governors, ministers, traditional rulers and business leaders.
