Former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, National Security Adviser (NSA) Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and Nigeria’s security agencies for the successful rescue of pupils and teachers abducted from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Describing the rescue as a huge relief to the victims, their families, and the nation, Kalu commended the coordinated efforts of the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other security and intelligence agencies. He said their professionalism, resilience, and teamwork made the operation successful.
The former governor noted that the successful mission demonstrates the value of sustained collaboration among Nigeria’s security institutions and the Federal Government’s continued commitment to addressing insecurity across the country. He congratulated the rescued victims and their families while urging politicians and public office holders to avoid politicising issues relating to national security.
According to him, security is a national responsibility that should not be viewed through partisan lenses, stressing that criminals do not discriminate based on political affiliation before attacking their victims. He commended President Tinubu for strengthening the nation’s security architecture, praised the NSA for coordinating intelligence and security operations, and lauded security personnel for their sacrifices in safeguarding the country.
Kalu appealed to politicians and public commentators to provide constructive support and work together in the fight against criminality rather than using security matters for political gains. He stressed that the protection of lives and property should remain the collective objective of all Nigerians, regardless of political differences.
The senator also expressed sympathy to the families who endured weeks of uncertainty during the victims’ captivity and prayed for the full physical and emotional recovery of those rescued. He urged security agencies to sustain the momentum by strengthening intelligence gathering, improving inter-agency collaboration, and ensuring that perpetrators of kidnapping and terrorism are brought to justice.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting legislative measures and policies aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s security institutions and improving the safety of all Nigerians, particularly schoolchildren, while encouraging citizens to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies in the collective fight against insecurity.
