President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Thursday unveil the ₦2.4 trillion ($1.5 billion) Abuja City Walk project, a flagship urban development expected to reshape the Federal Capital Territory with world-class residential, commercial, cultural, and entertainment infrastructure.

The project, located on a 250-hectare site in the Lugbe area along the Airport Road corridor, is being developed by MAG International Links Limited from a master plan designed by renowned global architectural firm Benoy.

Conceived as a mixed-use city within a designated Free Trade Zone, Abuja City Walk is expected to become one of the largest urban development projects in Nigeria.

At the heart of the development is a proposed 450-metre skyscraper that is projected to become Africa’s tallest building upon completion, adding a new landmark to Abuja’s skyline.

The development will also feature Nigeria’s largest indoor arena with a seating capacity of 13,000, designed to host international sporting events, concerts, exhibitions, and other major gatherings.

Other facilities planned for the mega city include luxury residential apartments, commercial office complexes, hotels, healthcare centres, retail outlets, recreational spaces, and a 12,000-square-metre Art District dedicated to promoting Nigeria’s creative and cultural industries.

The project is being delivered under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement with the support of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), led by Minister Nyesom Wike.

According to project officials, the FCTA has commenced the construction of access roads and is facilitating approvals and other administrative processes to accelerate implementation.

Developers said the city will be built with sustainability at its core, incorporating environmentally friendly features alongside architectural designs inspired by Nigeria’s cultural heritage and local traditions.

Construction of the first phase has already begun, with the project expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, attract local and foreign investment, and contribute to economic growth in line with the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The unveiling marks another major infrastructure initiative aimed at positioning Abuja as a leading destination for investment, tourism, business, and modern urban living in Africa.
