Makinde Earns APM Praise for Strengthening Oyo’s Fight Against Insecurity
By Our Reporter
The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has commended Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for procuring two surveillance aircraft to strengthen security operations across the state.
The party described the acquisition of the two DA 42 MNG model aircraft, designed for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions, as a demonstration of the Oyo State Government’s commitment to protecting lives and property. Equipped with advanced surveillance technology capable of identifying targets from both high and low altitudes, the aircraft are expected to support security agencies, including the Amotekun Corps, in tackling terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state.
APM noted that the initiative aligns with Section 14(2)(b) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), which provides that the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government.
The party said Governor Makinde, who is also its presidential candidate, has demonstrated outstanding leadership, sound managerial ability and political foresight through efforts aimed at safeguarding lives and property, which it described as essential for sustainable democracy and development.
This was contained in a statement signed by the APM National Chairman, Dr. Yusuf Mamman Dantale, who praised Makinde’s visionary, purposeful and inclusive style of governance, saying it has transformed Oyo State. He also urged residents to continue supporting the APM-led administration in the state.
According to the statement, the well-being of the people remains the hallmark of democratic governance, adding that the party will continue to prioritise the interests of Nigerians, as it claimed has been demonstrated in Oyo and Bauchi states, where APM is in government. The party stressed that Nigerians deserve the dividends of democracy rather than violence and insecurity.
APM further expressed confidence that, if elected President in 2027, Makinde would replicate his leadership style across the country and steer Nigeria towards progress, development and national advancement. It said he possesses the political will to restore the country’s fortunes.
The party therefore called on Nigerians to identify with APM and its candidates in future elections in the interest of improved national security, unity and prosperity.
It added that together, Nigerians can build a strong, stable, progressive, equitable and democratic society that future generations will be proud to inherit.
