Police Airwing Honours Gallant Officers as Lawmaker Laori Kwamoti Calls for Greater Recognition of Bravery

The Nigeria Police Airwing has honoured newly promoted officers and decorated deserving personnel with Letters of Commendation in recognition of their courage, professionalism and outstanding contributions to national security.

The ceremony, held at the Nigeria Police Airwing Hangar, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, was presided over by the Commissioner of Police, Airwing, CP Martin Nwogoh, who described the event as a celebration of excellence, sacrifice and unwavering dedication to duty.

In his welcome address, CP Nwogoh said the officers being honoured had distinguished themselves during several high-risk anti-banditry and counter-insurgency operations, demonstrating exceptional bravery even under hostile attacks that endangered their lives.

He noted that the recognition was aimed at rewarding gallantry and inspiring greater commitment among personnel.

The Police Airwing Commissioner also highlighted the strategic role of the Airwing in Nigeria’s security architecture, noting that beyond aerial patrols, it provides intelligence gathering, search and rescue operations, medical evacuations, logistics support, election security, inter-agency collaboration and counter-insurgency missions.

He commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for prioritising personnel welfare, professional development and merit-based promotion, which he said made the decoration of professionally qualified officers possible. According to him, the promotions reflect the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to excellence and operational efficiency.

CP Nwogoh urged the newly promoted officers to wear their new ranks with humility, discipline and integrity, stressing that promotion comes with greater responsibility and accountability.

He also charged recipients of the Letters of Commendation to remain steadfast and continue inspiring others through exemplary service.

Also speaking at the event, Hon. Laori Kwamoti, Chairman , House committee on Public Petitions , commended the gallant officers for their courage, professionalism and dedication to protecting the nation.

Honourable kwamoti who represents Numan, Demsa and Lamurde Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives encouraged them to do even more in the service of Nigeria, adding that acts of bravery and exceptional service should be highly recognised and encouraged to inspire others within the Force to emulate such exemplary conduct.

The lawmaker said recognising outstanding officers not only boosts morale but also strengthens the culture of excellence and professionalism in the Nigeria Police Force.

The ceremony concluded with congratulations to all newly promoted officers and recipients of the commendation letters, with a renewed call for sustained dedication, teamwork and commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the country.
