Guma LG Chairman, Orwough Highlights Huge Security , Health, Water, Education, other Rural Projects After Two Years in Office

The Chairman of Guma Local Government Area (LGA), of Benue State, Mr Maurice Orwough, has enumerated numerous ongoing infrastructure, healthcare, water, security and human capital development projects undertaken by his administration in the past two years.
Orwough, who briefed newsmen on Wednesday to mark his second anniversary in office, said his administration was focused on delivering projects that would directly impact the lives of residents and remain useful beyond his tenure.
The Chairman said “These 2 years have been a journey of responsibility I’m hearing you challenges lining service and most importantly commitment to the people.
“For me, leadership is not about occupying an office it is about touching lives responding to the needs of the people and living behind projects and institutions that were continued to serve the people beyond one’s tenure.”
He listed ongoing asphalt construction of the Ngban-Udei road, construction of five major culverts along the Daudu-Uikpam route and reconstruction of the collapsed culvert on the Origbo-Gbajimba Road among major infrastructure interventions.

He also cited the construction and remodelling of administrative buildings, including the Personnel and Finance Department blocks, Chairman’s office and residence.
According to him, his administration has also prioritized healthcare and water supply through the construction of clinics at Ukaa, Uvir Council Ward and Aninge, Mbadwem Ward and renovation of the ALGON Clinic at Torkula.
He added the provision of motorized boreholes at Uikpam, Abinsi, Kwenev, Umenger and Yogbo to improve access to potable water.
The chairman said the council had also supported farmers with fertilizers and herbicides across its wards, while security had received attention through the ongoing construction of a police station at Udei, Nyiev Council Ward, reconstruction of the Daudu Police Station, as well as provision of a vehicle and motorcycles to security operatives to enhance mobility and response.
He also disclosed that his administration donated the sum of N1 million to the best graduating indigent student in academics at the Police Training School, Wanune.
On education, Orwough said his administration had established a scholarship programme for Guma students, with annual scholarship support for 200 students with 20 students benefiting across the council’s 10 wards.
He also listed support for traditional institutions, including provision of vehicles to district heads and motorcycles to kindred heads, as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots administration.
He said the council had equally supported its officials and stakeholders through the provision of official vehicles and motorcycles, while implementing development interventions based on identified community needs.
Orwough stressed that sustained engagement with traditional rulers, community leaders and residents remained central to addressing development and security challenges in Guma.
The chairman acknowledged that despite the achievements recorded in two years, much remained to be done, particularly in the areas of roads, water, healthcare and security.
He pledged to complete ongoing projects and expand interventions to more communities, assuring the people that his administration remained committed to development, service, accountability and their wellbeing.
He said “I remain committed to the responsibility you have entrusted to me. My administration will continue to engage the people, listen to their concerns and work with stakeholders to find solutions to the challenges confronting our communities.”
