Tottenham scored two second-half goals to defeat ten-man Chelsea 2-0 in their English Premier League (EPL) encounter at Stamford Bridge.

A Mike Penders own goal and a brilliant solo effort from Mathys Tel secured all three points for Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham as the two expensively assembled teams clashed in the London derby.

Chelsea were without injured striker Joao Pedro and goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, who had undergone surgery for a broken jaw. Penders replaced Martinez and made excellent saves in the first half to deny Omar Marmoush and Tel.

However, the Belgian goalkeeper’s mistake gave Spurs the advantage when he punched a corner kick into his own net.
Cole Palmer then lost his composure, making two poor challenges that resulted in two cautions and a red card, leaving Chelsea with ten players.

Tottenham capitalised on their numerical advantage as Chelsea searched for an equaliser. Tel collected the ball in his own half and embarked on an impressive solo run before finishing with an unstoppable low drive into the net to seal the 2-0 victory.

The win was Tottenham’s second in five days and their second victory of the season. It also marked the club’s first consecutive league wins since May.
