Chief Calistus Elozieuwa
Founder Rescue live foundation international and BOT chairman Nigerians in Diaspora organization
has celebrated Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary alongside his birthday with over 200 Nigerian inmates at the Ghana Correctional Centre.
Chief Elozieuwa, in a statement he personally issued in Abuja on Sunday, described the gathering as a solemn and emotional occasion, bringing together members of the Nigerian community in Ghana to commemorate the country’s independence and celebrate his birthday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the celebration was organised to extend love, compassion and solidarity to Nigerians serving various jail terms in Ghana.
Elozieuwa, widely recognised as a pillar of unity, a detribalised leader and an Ambassador of Peace, marked the double occasion by reaching out to vulnerable Nigerians.
The event brought hope, dignity and joy to more than 200 Nigerian inmates through the distribution of food items, drinks and other essential relief materials.
To commemorate the milestone, Elozieuwa coordinated a massive donation of relief materials valued at millions of naira to support the welfare of the inmates.

High Chief, Amaraegbu Cletus, who spoke on behalf of former Inspector-General of Police, Sir Mike Okiro, delivered a message of encouragement and solidarity to the inmates.
Amaraegbu urged the inmates to remain resilient, maintain hope and put their trust in God despite the challenges confronting them during their period of incarceration.
He also commended the Ghana Correctional Service for its humane treatment, professionalism and consistent commitment to the welfare of Nigerian inmates.
Amaraegbu further praised Elozieuwa
and the leadership of Nigerians in Ghana for their sustained commitment to humanitarian services and philanthropy.
He called on affluent Nigerians in the diaspora to emulate the gesture by supporting vulnerable compatriots and contributing to initiatives that promote human dignity.
Special appreciation was also extended to Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), for her support towards the initiative.
Leaders of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO) and other high-level delegates also delivered goodwill messages, offering prayers and words of encouragement, particularly for inmates awaiting trial and those on death row.
The celebration ended with the cutting of the birthday cake, a shared feast and a memorable gathering that brought Nigerians together in a spirit of unity, compassion and patriotism.
The event underscored Elozieuwa’s commitment to humanitarian service, national unity and the welfare of Nigerians living outside the country.
The organisers acknowledged her goodwill message, delivered on her behalf, as well as her generous cash donation to address medical-related challenges confronting Nigerian inmates at the Nsawam Maximum Security Prison.
