A Message of Joy, Pain, Sadness: Celebrating Democracy, Condoling Lives Lost

By Dr. Ogbenjuwa, Oyije Ocheakiti (Ph.D)
To the good people of Benue State,
As we celebrate Nigeria’s Democracy Day, I join you in rejoicing the progress we have made as a nation, despite the challenges we face. This day marks a significant milestone in our journey towards democratic governance, and it’s an opportunity to reflect on the strides we’ve taken and the work that still lies ahead. Our democracy has given us a platform to express our opinions, choose our leaders, and hold them accountable. It is a precious gift that we must continue to nurture and strengthen.
However, our celebration is tempered by the recent tragic events in our state, where lives were lost, and communities were sadly affected. As a security expert and a governorship aspirant, I want to extend my deepest sympathies to the families of the victims and the Benue State government. We stand in solidarity with those affected and pray for peace and stability in our state. The loss of life is always a tragedy, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that we do everything in our power to prevent such incidents in the future.
Haven dedicated my career to understanding and addressing security challenges around the world, I am obligated to working towards creating a safer, more prosperous Benue State for all. I believe that our state (Benue) has immense potential, and with the right leadership skills, we can unlock this potential and build a brighter future for entire Benue people. My vision for Benue State is one of peace, prosperity, and progress, where every citizen can live without fear, access opportunities, and thrive.
On this Democracy Day, let us reaffirm our commitment to the values of democracy, including the protection of human life and the promotion of the common good. Let us work together to build a brighter future for our state and nation. As a governorship aspirant, I’m committed to listening to the concerns of our citizens, engaging with our communities, and working tirelessly to address the challenges we face. I believe that together, we can build a better Benue State, where every citizen can live with human dignity and purpose.
Happy Democracy Day, and may God bless Benue State and Nigeria.
Sincerely,
Dr. Ogbenjuwa, Oyije Ocheakiti (Ph.D).
