Adamawa PDP sounds the alarm as Caleb Myebangara unveils running mate and rallies supporters for 2027.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Chief Caleb Andrew Myebangara, FCA, JP (Shettiman Batta), has raised concerns over an alleged attempt to substitute his name and those of other party candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Chief Caleb made the disclosure during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.
According to him, the alleged move was successfully thwarted, assuring all party candidates that the leadership would continue to support those who legitimately purchased expression of interest and nomination forms.
“I want to assure all our candidates that we will stand by you. The party leadership, alongside the executives, will work assiduously to expand our frontiers for a formidable victory in the 2027 general elections,” he said.
The PDP governorship candidate also expressed confidence in ongoing efforts by the party to reclaim its legitimacy through constitutional processes at the national headquarters in Abuja.
A major highlight of the meeting was the official unveiling of Umar Alhaji Abdu as the party’s Deputy Governorship candidate. Abdu, who hails from Fufore Local Government Area in the central senatorial zone, was introduced to party members alongside other candidates.
In his acceptance speech, Abdu thanked the party leadership for the opportunity and pledged loyalty to Chief Caleb and the PDP.
“I thank the gubernatorial candidate and party stakeholders for finding me worthy of this responsibility. Chief Caleb is an honest, fearless, and worthy politician who has stood by the party despite the recent exit of some members. I promise to remain committed to the party’s ideals and work tirelessly for our collective victory,” he stated.
The event also featured the presentation of nomination forms received from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to PDP candidates for documentation purposes. Beneficiaries included three senatorial candidates, eight House of Representatives candidates, and 25 House of Assembly candidates.
Chief Caleb urged candidates to avoid anti-party activities and remain loyal to the PDP.
“All your names will be uploaded on the INEC portal. I urge you to work for the PDP from the top down to the ward level,” he said.
Adamawa State PDP Chairman, Mr. Stephen Heluwa, praised Chief Caleb for his commitment and resilience in advancing the party despite challenges from different quarters.
“Chief Caleb Andrew Myebangara has been at the forefront of advancing the party’s interests. His courage and determination are commendable,” Heluwa said.
He also expressed satisfaction with the turnout of stakeholders and emphasized the need for unity and dedication.
“Our movement to victory has just begun. I cannot overemphasize the need for loyalty to the party. We must remain united if we are to achieve success in 2027,” he added.
During the meeting, stakeholders deliberated on party unity, reconciliation, and strategies for mobilization ahead of the 2027 elections. They also passed a vote of confidence on Chief Caleb Andrew Myebangara.
Among the key resolutions reached were the need for adequate funding of campaign activities, addressing concerns over litigation affecting the party’s legitimacy, strengthening party structures at the grassroots level, and expanding party offices across all wards.
Chief Caleb also appreciated the PDP National Working Committee (NWC), led by Tanimu Turaki, SAN, for pursuing constitutional processes that resulted in victories at both the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal.
“I assure the NWC that Adamawa State remains a PDP state. We will continue to uphold the party’s constitution and work towards reclaiming our mandate,” he said.
With the unveiling of a running mate, distribution of INEC nomination forms, and renewed calls for unity and reconciliation, the Adamawa PDP says it is preparing for a vigorous campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party leadership urged members to remain committed and focused, expressing confidence that collective efforts would lead to electoral success.
